Lost (Setsuna)

Tamia was walking through allies restlessly, constantly scanning the area around her. She wasn't use to this area but she knew that she would soon be surrounded by the comfort of another town. How much longer was she to walk though? How much closer had she gotten? These were the questions she asked herself with every step she took.

Setsuna sat on a bench sharpening his sword quietly. A small breeze blew by and it caused his ears to twitch slightly. He began to hum slightly as his black hair fell in front of his eyes. Picking up the blade Setsuna swung it with one hand at e tree behind him. The sword went clear through causing Setsuna to grin.

Soon enough Tamia came across a bench. She was surprised to see another person there and didn't feel it would be polite to bother him. Therefore, she continued walking, looking back not long after passing. She decided she had better rest so sat down not even three yards from the bench.

Setsuna looked over at the girl that had sat down. "There is a bench right here." He said smiling at her. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine standing." He got up off the bench and stepped back. "Ny the way I am sir Setsuna.'

Tamia bowed her head in his direction to show respect and said quietly, "I don't want to bother you Sir, I will be just fine right here. I'm Tamia, it is a pleasure to meet you." She returned his smile but her's was more timid than his.

Setsuna sat down next to her. "Ah shy one aren't you?" He said smiling slightly. "Oand there is no need to call me sir. Please just call me Setsuna." He sheathed his sword and looked down at the intricately carved blade

She tucked her knees up to her chest and leaned her head back. "Well.. Setsuna... I think I can handle not calling you sir. Anyway, that's an interesting sword you have." She looked over at him curiously.

Setsuna: ran a finger across the cold steel and nodded a little. "It's the only thing I have from my parents....this sword is the only tie I have with them." He shook his head as to get rid of the thought and looked over. "Well anyway what are you doing out here by yourself?"

She smirked and closed her eyes as she said simply, "I'm running. Easiest thing in the world to me." She looked down the path that she had been walking. "I've come a far way and I'll have to leave soon if I want to be able to find a town before dusk."

Setsuna looked at her and tilted his head slightly. "Running from what?" Setsuna grinder his teeth slightly. He was also running. Trying to escape his past mistakes and failures was. Of an easy task.

When he asked that she turned her head away from him so he wouldn't see the thread of tears that were threatening to escape. She thought about leaving but she was unsure of whether or not she could make it to the next town and decided she would just camp there. "My... owner I suppose you could call him..."

Setsuna growled. "A slave?" She stabbed his sword into the ground and stood up. "What is his name?" He said in a slightly menacing tone. After an experience Setsuna had in the past he had an intense hatred of slave owners.

She stared at him stunned. She didn't know how he would react but she certainly didn't expect hime to do that. She became a little fightened as she noticed the sun was beginning to set. "I need to hide before the sun fully sets" she thought and stood up. "I'm sorry but I must go now." she said while continuing to look at the sunset.

Setsuna picked up his sword and stared at her determinedly. "Let me come with you. I will not let anyone have a slave...never." He said with a little water in his eyes. He held his sword at his side as he continued to talk. Please...allow me to accompany you, I know the area well."

"I couldn't allow that though. I don't want to be a burden and I don't like getting people involved in my problems. I don't know why you would want to come with me but I don't think I could allow you too. I'm sorry." Hesitantly, she turned away. It would be nice for her to have someone with her but she couldn't allow it.

Setsuna looked at her for a moment. "To be perfectly honest I'm coming wether you say I can or not. Helping you might help me atone for what I've done...." He said solemnly. Looking up ather his red eyes burned with a fire of determination. "So if you don't like it then to bad."

"Fine." she said a little relieved. She refused to let him know how happy it made him that he would go with her. Before walking off she looked back at him to make sure he really was going to go with her.

Setsuna followed her about 3 feet away. He had his sword gripped in one hand to make sure he was ready for whatever might happen. With his other hand he brushed his hair out of his eyes. After a minute he spoke. "What exactly are you running from anyways?"

"That's for another time," she shuddered. "Now tell me, why are you running? Please don't lie to me either, I can tell when you are." She turned to him and eyes him suspiciously. It had been easy for her to figure out that he was running too. She just wanted to know why he was.

Setsuna stopped and signed. " I'm running from my failures....I failed to protect the woman I loved.....twice... I couldn't stop them from being killed....I'm running from myself." Setsuna's red eyes dulled as he continued. "Throughout my whole life I've always failed... I couldn't protect my princess...my lover....not even my own son...does that answer your question?"

"I'm so sorry, I never should of asked. Do you honestly want to come with me?" She couldn't let him go now after she practically made him tell her somthing that wasn't her's to know. "Oh God, I'm so sorry I asked you."

Setsuna looked up. "Don't be...it's my burden to carry alone.." He sheathed his sword and continued walking. "I suggest we should keep going before nightfall." He said plainly. Setsuna kept a tight grip on the hilt of his blade as hey continued down the road.

As they walked she stayed a few feet behind him. As she walked she watched her feet. "I should tell him." She thought. She had kept to herself for so long that she should be use to running before anyone finds out her secret. There was just something about Setsuna that made her want to tell him. She decided that she would keep to herself for a little while longer.

Setsuna looked at the Darkening horizon and stopped. "We should make camp." He said before taking out his sword. "Give me a few minutes." Around ten minutes later Setsuna had created a shelter out of sticks and leaves and had a fire going. "I have some food, do you want some?"

"No thank you." She said. She went into the shelter and curled up. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes. Today had exaughsted her but she knew sleep wasn't going to come easily so she started singing quietly. She hoped he couldn't hear her as she sang.
